Finding Disciples

Acts 21:4 KJV
And finding disciples, we tarried there seven days: who said to Paul through the Spirit, that he should not go up to Jerusalem.

Paul was on what he considered to be urgent business. He had been raising money to give as a relief to the Christians in Jerusalem and wanted to make it there in time for the feast. But travel in his day was slow and exhausting so this trip necessitated many stops and periods of rest.

When they arrived in Tyre, Paul and his company found that there were disciples there. The word expresses a deliberate search.
  • He apparently did not know that these believers were there,
  • He did not know them personally and
  • By what means a man could find a band of Christians in such a hostile world as they lived we do not know
but Paul found them. And finding them, he tarried with them and received his refreshment among them.

Should not we, who live in such ease, both in travel and in the location of a church of like faith, make every effort to be where believers fellowship? Shouldn't we, even if there is some difficulty in making it to where the believers assemble at least follow the example of Paul and tarry with the saints?
