Blessed Indeed

Job 42:11 KJV
Then came there unto him all his brethren, and all his sisters, and all they that had been of his acquaintance before, and did eat bread with him in his house: and they bemoaned him, and comforted him over all the evil that the LORD had brought upon him: every man also gave him a piece of money, and every one an earring of gold.

Job had once complained that his kinsmen had abandoned him in the time of his trouble.[1] His children had all died and his wife had aggravated his circumstances through bitterness. But his brothers and sisters seem to have just ignored him in his trial.

At least until now.

I don't take it that they returned because he is now blessed but that part of his blessing is that they returned to fellowship with him. They begin by comforting him and by bringing aide to him.
  • There was companionship
  • There was commiseration
  • There was financial compensation
Perhaps they were unable to come to him before, the devil having put some hindrance in the way which God here removes.

Few things comfort the troubled heart more than the love and support of family. The man who has that near at hand can consider himself blessed indeed.
