Job 41:8 KJV
Lay thine hand upon him, remember the battle, do
no more.
I understand why some commentaries claim leviathan to be a crocodile but
I do not buy it. It may be some relative, but certainly not one that we have
seen before. The lesson of the passage is a simple one, if God created a being
that is utterly undefeatable by humankind, what must be the might of this
Creator!
I see a second implied lesson, concerning our relationship with God,
which is to surrender our battle against Him. Remember what great
conflict we had with God in our former lost state and do battle with Him no
more. Place our hand in His. Accept the place of His own and
serve Him:
- Willingly
- Reverently even
- Joyfully
