Luke
15:2-3 KJV
And the Pharisees and scribes murmured, saying, This man receiveth
sinners, and eateth with them.
And he spake this parable unto them, saying,
The parables that follow are all in answer of this
complaint; Jesus receiveth sinners. This one objection prevents multitudes of
the elite of this world to reject Jesus Christ. Jesus' inclusion of the sinner,
the spiritually sick, the poor and weak and blind and maimed of this world. is
more than they can stomach.
I take thought of a distinction between man and God:
Men must never accept as God, anyone less than perfect. The
sacrificial lamb, which pictured the Lamb of God which taketh away the sin of
the world, had to be without fault or blemish.
But God may and
does embrace the blemished of this world and to make of them a glorious church
without blemish.
- He receives the coin that's been
lost from neglect.
- He receives the sheep who has gone
astray on his own.
- He receives the son who rebels and
turns to wrong.
We who are saved can see ourselves in one of the three or
in a combination of the three.
- We were neglected from Bible
teaching as a child, but God sought us out or
- We were distracted by worldly
pursuits and got away from spiritual things and God reined us in or else
- We were willingly rebellious of the
teaching of the Bible and of our family's faith
but the Lord kept
looking until that day we came to our senses and asked to come home.
Jesus, God, receiveth sinners. Praise God He
does.
