Psalms
144:14 KJV
That our oxen may be strong to labour; that there be no breaking
in, nor going out; that there be no complaining in our streets.
One of the
most notable troubles of the Jews in the wilderness was their complaining and
murmuring. It was so much a characteristic of them that the complaining Jew is
stereotypical of the race. Here our Psalmist prays that among God's people
there should be "no
complaining in our streets."
The lack of
complaint is traced back to God's blessing upon them. He prayed that such
things would happen among them that there would be nothing to complain about.
But then there is the declarative statement of the final verse "yea happy is that people whose God is the Lord."
- Happiness can be the result of
things just working out for us, but it doesn't have to be so.
- Happiness can be the simple result
of knowing God as our own.
- Happiness can be the result of
having the right God as our God.
- Happiness can be as simple as
trusting Him whatever is the case
