Matthew 11:2-3 (KJV)
Now when John had heard in the prison the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples,And said unto him, Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another?

John the Baptist is marginalized by most of mainstream Christianity today. And I think there are a number of reasons for that:

• John’s ministry emphasized holiness to an uncomfortable level for our compromised and comfortable Christian culture. 
• John forces universal church doctrine to consider the authority and mode of baptism
• John the Baptist does not fit the popular notion that living for Christ leads to success in life ventures

The Gospel begins with the preaching of John the Baptist. We would be wisest to return to his:

• preaching, 
• philosophy of ministry and 
• personal character 

in our modern ministries.
