Hebrews 9:7-8 (KJV)

Hebrews 9:11 (KJV)
But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;
But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;
Consider carefully and it is obvious that the Apostle advocated for the dismantling of the Jewish system of worship, in this passage, meaning the Temple. As long as that Temple stood, the way into the presence of God was obscured. He advocated instead for a greater and more perfect tabernacle.
Because this tabernacle is not made with hands, I don’t believe Paul meant the Jewish Temple in Jerusalem had to be literally torn down (though that did eventually happen) but that the practice of faith in it must be done away with. As long as a person continues in the Jewish system he is blinded to the true way into the presence of God. If he is blinded, he is certainly not capable of leading anyone else into God’s presence.
This new tabernacle, not made with hands is, I believe, the local New Testament Church. (Not the body of the individual Christian as the Protestants wrongly suppose.) The local church is a miracle to ponder.
- It is composed of people of all ages, backgrounds, genders and interests.
- It may have both former Jews and Gentiles within it, now one in Christ.
- It represents how any man woman and child may enter into God’s presence through saving faith in Christ.
This is why it is such a sin to continue in or support the practice of Jewish faith in either Jewish or Messianic Jewish communities. They blind the larger numbers from the way into the holiest. They give the impression that the way is limited and small.
Every born again believer must come out from among them and unite instead in a true local New Testament (and, I believe, Baptist) Church.
