Judges 9:19-21 (KJV) No Need to Be Quiet About Faith

Judges 9:19-21 (KJV)
If ye then have dealt truly and sincerely with Jerubbaal and with his house this day, then rejoice ye in Abimelech, and let him also rejoice in you:But if not, let fire come out from Abimelech, and devour the men of Shechem, and the house of Millo; and let fire come out from the men of Shechem, and from the house of Millo, and devour Abimelech. And Jotham ran away, and fled, and went to Beer, and dwelt there, for fear of Abimelech his brother.
Jotham was right to be afraid. Abimelech would certainly kill him if he had the chance. But he did speak up and his curse did come to pass (albeit three years later).
Sometimes the circumstances warrant a safe place and a strategic retreat. The power of Satan and those who, whether wittingly or otherwise, follow him is real and sometimes quite violent. There is no reason to get persecuted needlessly. Elijah had the good sense to flee from Jezebel. We ought to have as much sense as that.
This however doesn’t mean we keep quiet about our faith. Jotham was discreet but he wasn’t quite.
Let’s follow his lead.
