1 Samuel 14:18 (KJV)
And Saul said unto Ahiah, Bring hither the ark of God. For the ark of God was at that time with the children of Israel.

How the Ark was with Saul at that time is unknown. We are told in 2 Samuel that it was with Abinadab in Gibeah for twenty years and that he had appointed his son Eleazar to care for it. This may not mean that it was stationary all of that time but that this family remained over its care all these years.

• Perhaps this conflict was near to Abinadab
• Perhaps the family of Abinadab, his sons, were in Saul’s army

The story of God’s Word does not account for every detail or event in anyone’s life. Nor does it account for every moment of an important object such as the Ark.

God gives us what we need to know.

That a detail appears to be missing in no way gives us cause to question the Bible’s accuracy.
