Matthew 21:1-2 (KJV)
And when they drew nigh unto Jerusalem, and were come to Bethphage, unto the mount of Olives, then sent Jesus two disciples,Saying unto them, Go into the village over against you, and straightway ye shall find an ass tied, and a colt with her: loose them, and bring them unto me.

It happens that this passage is part of my regular visit with the Lord in this Sunday before Easter. (I do not like to use the term Palm Sunday because it smacks too closely to Protestantism and Catholicism. I know my Anabaptist forebears would never have associated so closely with them regarding observances of days.) I do enjoy that God orchestrated the timing that I read this passage this morning.

Not many moments ago I received a message from a pastor friend that he would be contrasting this passage with Revelation 19. Some contrasts that come to my mind are:

In this, Jesus rides into town on a borrowed ass.The traditional royal animal was the ass. In the later He will ride out of heaven on a white horse, traditionally an animal of war.

In this he rides into Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives.In the later he rides to the Mount of Olives from heaven.

In this the children proclaim hosanna.In the later he is followed with the armies of heaven.

In this he will affect the victory over sin.In the later he will have victory over the Antichrist.
