1 John 1:5-10 (KJV)
This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

Verses 5-10 come together as a full thought. The message received and then declared is right here. We might think of the rest of the book as an application of this message. It is a message of fellowship with God and the condition of cleansing in Christ’s blood.
The situation with a man and sin is this:
We yet deal with sinThat which separates our fellowship with God is not that we still live in a sinful body but that we would try to deny it.
We yet deal with sinThat which separates our fellowship with God is not that we still live in a sinful body but that we would try to deny it.
When we are honest about our sin Jesus cleanses and saved us from the sinOur fellowship with God is free when we remain honest about our nature.
We will wrestle with a sin nature all the while we are in this worldBy confessing it and being forthright with God concerning it we maintain a holy walk with the light.
To deny that we ever were sinners is a denial of the need of salvation
This one is destined for condemnation so long as he denies sin.
