Jeremiah 9:25-26 (KJV) Preservation

Jeremiah 9:25-26 (KJV)
Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will punish all them which are circumcised with the uncircumcised;
Egypt, and Judah, and Edom, and the children of Ammon, and Moab, and all that are in the utmost corners, that dwell in the wilderness: for all these nations are uncircumcised, and all the house of Israel are uncircumcised in the heart.
As I read this two things come to mind:
How did the Jews of Jesus’ day miss this?
God, through Jeremiah, makes it abundantly clear that, in God’s eyes, there is little difference between the circumcised and the uncircumcised.
  • Each has opportunities of blessing
  • Each is loved of God
  • Each is chastened of God when appropriate.
I can see but one reason the Jews in the days of Christ could not see this. They did not believe Jeremiah any more that the Jews of Jeremiah’s day did.
This leads me to my second thought,
It is a testament to God’s superintendence that this book survives
The king in Jeremiah’s day attempted to destroy it. He cut the printed word of Jeremiah apart, page-by-page, and burnt it. God overruled and gave Jeremiah the ability to make a perfect copy of the original.
I can’t imagine who among the Jews in those days would have thought to preserve it. Who among the latter generations of Jews would have included it in the Sacred Scriptures?
  • This was not the deed of the Jews, as a body, recognizing God in this book.
  • This must be the work of Almighty God insuring His work was preserved and passed down.
To my readers:
