Jeremiah 50:19-20 (KJV)
And I will bring Israel again to his habitation, and he shall feed on Carmel and Bashan, and his soul shall be satisfied upon mount Ephraim and Gilead.
In those days, and in that time, saith the LORD, the iniquity of Israel shall be sought for, and there shall be none; and the sins of Judah, and they shall not be found: for I will pardon them whom I reserve.
Though Israel is again in his habitation this could hardly be a fulfillment of our passage. The soul of Israel is so far from that which God’s Word describes and God desires of Israel that we must conclude this passage is yet to be fulfilled. That fulfillment, as I understand the Word of God, occurs during the Millennial Kingdom.
Notice verse 20. A search is made for the iniquities and the sins of Israel and Judah and none is found. Imagine! In a day when information is so freely passed, it is impossible to find out their sins and iniquities. Is it because there are none? Hardly. The reason none can be found is because God has pardoned them.
Believer, see yourself in this passage.
- You know your sin.
- You know how short you fall from the glory of God.
- You may dread that day you appear in the presence of God.
Here is the promise of the Word of God; “their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.”[1] They are gone, forgotten, removed as far as the east is from the west, buried in the depths of the sea. Why? Because God pardons those He reserves.
