Leviticus 14:21-22 (KJV)
And if he be poor, and cannot get so much; then he shall take one lamb for a trespass offering to be waved, to make an atonement for him, and one tenth deal of fine flour mingled with oil for a meat offering, and a log of oil;
And two turtledoves, or two young pigeons, such as he is able to get; and the one shall be a sin offering, and the other a burnt offering.

This is a long chapter, fifty-seven verses, addressing the subject of the leper’s cleansing.
I notice first of all that God does not promise to rid the world of leprosy, at least not at this time.
The effects of sin have so corrupted this world that both the sinner and the world in which he dwells, is contaminated. There are diseases alive in this world and our bodies are incapable of fighting off all of them.

I notice too, that God does not promise to rid the world of poverty.
Jesus said, Matthew 26:11 (KJV)
For ye have the poor always with you; but me ye have not always.

He could obviously have rid the world of poverty. Instead, He told us that poverty would continue, at least for the time being. What He did is provide a means for the treatment of disease. There was a due process to determine the extent of the disease and then if the infected were healed, restore them to society.
And He made provision for the poor to have the very same restoration, only within their means, “such as he is able to get.” Our gracious God demands no more of us than what we are able to get. That which we are not able to do on our own, payment for our sin, God provides for us through His Son, Jesus Christ.
