Numbers 21:2 (KJV) Unity and Encouragement

Numbers 21:2 (KJV)
And Israel vowed a vow unto the LORD, and said, If thou wilt indeed deliver this people into my hand, then I will utterly destroy their cities.
Arad had fought against Israel and taken some of them prisoners, the response of which was to ask the Lord to enable them to defeat Arad. God hearkened and delivered the Canaanites.
The very next verse says that Israel became much discouraged in the way. I was impressed that verse two represents Israel in the singular.
  • Israel vowed
  • Into my hand
  • I will utterly destroy
There is unity, a singularity of purpose, prayer, and plan
But when discouragement came, there came division.
Consider – hardship brought them together; discouragement tore them apart.
This reminds me not only of the importance of unity but that of encouragement. To regularly, frequently and faithfully assemble together in the local church God has established us in, is a priority for love, for unity, for courage, and for encouragement.
