Deuteronomy 12:4-5 (KJV) Too Sophisticated?

Deuteronomy 12:4-5 (KJV)
Ye shall not do so unto the LORD your God.
But unto the place which the LORD your God shall choose out of all your tribes to put his name there, even unto his habitation shall ye seek, and thither thou shalt come:

Israel was to completely disavow and disassociate with the religious ideas of the pagans. They were to:

• Destroy their places
• Overthrow their altars
• Break down their pillars
• Burn their groves
• Hew down their graven images and
• Destroy their names out of that place 

They were to rid the land of every remembrance of these false gods. 

But they were not to do that unto the Lord their God. They were rather to seek Him in the place He set for them. 

Modern culture fancies itself as too sophisticated to embrace the superstitions of religion. At the same time, they view themselves as too tolerant to deny those who do believe in some faith. They claim to have an open mind, but really, they have already destroyed the concept of faith from their hearts. The problem is, when they did it, they opened the way for every false doctrine and closed the door to the one and only True God.
