1 Chronicles 29:23-24 (KJV) It Runs In The Family

1 Chronicles 29:23-24 (KJV)
Then Solomon sat on the throne of the LORD as king instead of David his father, and prospered; and all Israel obeyed him.
And all the princes, and the mighty men, and all the sons likewise of king David, submitted themselves unto Solomon the king.

There is a general principle, that I think runs through the Old Testament, of the work of God being passed through family lines. 

• Abraham and Isaac
• Isaac and Jacob
• Jacob and his sons
• Levi 
• Moses and his brother, Aaron
• David and Solomon

In the New Testament, this same general principle seems to exist: 

• Jesus and John the Baptist
• James, the brother of Jesus
• Peter and his brother
• John and his brother

The principle is only general. It didn’t apply in every case and in many of those times when it did apply the results were less than perfect. Still, the principle was there. 

In the case of David and Solomon, the Bible says that all Israel obeyed and that the princes, the mighty men and the sons of King David submitted themselves. 

That’s still generally a good plan.
