1 Peter 5:1-3 (KJV) Feed My Sheep

1 Peter 5:1-3 (KJV)
The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed:
Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;
Neither as being lords over God’s heritage, but being ensamples to the flock.

The preacher’s, work according to Peter, is the feed the flock of God “which is among [us]”.

We feed them as we care for them
Taking oversight. This is not ruling so much as supervision. We see to their needs.

We feed them of a ready mind
Willingly, not for money and not because we have to.

We feed them as ensamples and not as lords
We are not authorities. We are examples.

“If he love me,… feed my sheep.”[1]

[1] John 21:15-17 (KJV)
So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs.
He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep.
He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.
