2 Peter 1:9 (KJV)
But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.
This passage happens just after the seven things to add to our faith. The Word of God urges us to be diligent in adding them and assures us, if we do so, we will have an abundant entrance into heaven. But then the passage warns us that if we lack them:
- We are blind
- We are nearsighted and
- We are forgetful
I think I know a lot of people who have forgotten that their sins are forgiven. Having not grown in their faith, they begin to slip in their faith, and finally, they fall away from their faith.
It is not that they have lost what Jesus gave them, they have just forgotten. Being forgotten they fall from the blessings, the grace, the joys of their faith. They lose sight of the long game, the end of all things. They will still be admitted into the everlasting kingdom. They will just not have the abundant entrance they might have had.To my readers:
