Psalms 117:1-2 (KJV)
O praise the LORD, all ye nations: praise him, all ye people.
For his merciful kindness is great toward us: and the truth of the LORD endureth for ever. Praise ye the LORD.
The Bible is a substantial piece of work. It is no small read and, having read it cover to cover many times over in the last forty years, I can testify that its content is neither shallow nor dull.
The Bible itself tells us that it doesn’t record all there is to know. It doesn’t even record everything Jesus did in His thirty-three years of earthly sojourn. But it gives us more than we can fully grasp in this lifetime. It is a substantial piece of work. But this passage teaches us that a work doesn’t have to be voluminous to be valuable. We have, in an entire Psalm, just two verses. Yet:
- The Holy Spirit inspired it
- Men of God were led to include it in the Bible and
- God has eternally preserved it
A person doesn’t have to write volumes for his writing to have value.
