Psalms 119:164 (KJV) The Judgments of God

Psalms 119:164 (KJV)
Seven times a day do I praise thee because of thy righteous judgments.

Nowhere can we find in the Bible a definitive command concerning the number of times a person ought to offer prayers, worship, or devotion to the Lord. David prayed morning, noon, and night. Daniel prayed three times each day. One the other hand we are told by the Apostle to pray without ceasing. 

Since the number seven is often called the number of completion or perfection it seems most appropriate to me to think the principle of our Psalm is that we praise the Lord, render worship to Him, and bring our prayers to Him as often “as he shall find it desirable and convenient; as his feelings or his circumstances shall suggest.”[1]

The purpose of this praise is defined as, “because of thy righteous judgments.” If this is the case, we can never run short of reasons for praise. 

• God’s wisdom in His eternal plan
• God’s determination in the way of salvation 
• God’s patience in handling sinners
• God’s oversight in the affairs of man
• God’s use of the fallen to bring about growth in the redeemed

I could go on. The judgments of God are righteous, wise, good, kind, and loving.
