Every one of us knows we are flawed, even sinful beings. We know we are less than perfect. We know we have corruption in us. We know, in short, we are unrighteous.
The disagreement happens when we propose to answer this unrighteousness.
The one proposes to fix it through rules
Whether it be a religious rule or a legislative one, laws are passed to reign in, reduce and refine man’s corrupt nature.
The other proposes to wait for that righteousness
I see three keys:
Through the Spirit
We are talking about saved people in this context. They have had their spirit quickened. They can hear the testimony of the Holy Spirit. They can follow Him.
Wait
The word wait has to do with time, but it also has to do with a binding or a yoke. We serve as yoked together with Christ. We serve as He moves and not as we do.
By faith
Believing, trusting, leaning upon the promises of God’s Word regardless of how long it takes for those promises to come about.
We have not attained or apprehended all that God has for us. But rather than trying to make it happen on our own we are confident that the Holy Spirit calls us to wait, believing that, in God’s good time, we will see Jesus, and we will be like Him.
