And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?
When God asked the question, “Who told thee…?” There were only a couple of possible answers. There just were not that many voices available to them. They had been created specifically to fellowship with God. Obviously, they were getting some “fellowship” from another source:
Adam said it was Eve
Eve said it was the serpent
He, the serpent, the devil, Satan, is at the bottom of every lie we hear.
The original sin, and the one that plunged mankind into corruption, happened when God’s people accepted fellowship with those who were not God’s people.
And so it is with almost every problem we get ourselves into.
