1 Corinthians 9:1 (KJV) Proof Positive

1 Corinthians 9:1 (KJV)

Am I not an apostle? am I not free? have I not seen Jesus Christ our Lord? are not ye my work in the Lord?

The first in this series of questions is rhetorical, followed by others offered as proofs

Am I not an apostle?
The obvious answer is yes. He had no intention of providing them an opportunity to argue otherwise. I’ve never permitted another to challenge my call. Like Paul, some may question it, but I require they assume it to be true.

Have I not seen Jesus Christ our Lord?

This was literally true of Paul. It was also a requirement of his calling. But it was verified only by his word and perhaps that of Ananias of Damascus. As a preacher, I meet with the Lord every day and enter the pulpit to tell people what He said. The only proof I have of that is my testimony and the message.

Are not ye my work in the Lord?
Paul offered as proof of his office the ministry he had among them. This is the exact proof every preacher has to offer. He has been called to that pulpit, and he has fulfilled his duties there.
