The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
The Lord is longsuffering to us-ward. That longsuffering accounts for our salvation.[1] As a by-product in our life of this Spirit of the Lord, we ought to learn some of the same.
It is not easy to be longsuffering and patient with people. We all have ideas and agendas we wish we could get everyone behind. It doesn’t always happen. When it does, it seldom happens quickly.
But then there are those not only unwilling to get onboard but choose to be critical, obnoxious, or even attack what we see as the course God has set.
God’s Spirit would be longsuffering with them. God’s Spirit would even suffer rather than grow impatient.
Lord, lead us to surrender to Your Spirit.
