Teach me thy way, O LORD, and lead me in a plain path, because of mine enemies.
Wow. This Psalmist was surrounded with enemies. The Psalm both begins and ends with enemies. He even mentions being forsaken of his parents. In the middle of such pressures, it is notable that he desired but one thing,
Psalms 27:4 (KJV)
One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple.
It is also notable that he prayed personally,
Psalms 27:11 (KJV)
Teach me thy way, O LORD, and lead me in a plain path, because of mine enemies.
The message is that, because the enemies surround and see what we do, pray that God would guide your steps and make it easy, not to make the steps, but to know what steps to make.
Here’s my takeaway.
When surrounded by enemies and when hurt by broken relationships, trust God to handle those things. Focus your attention on,
- The house of the Lord
- The beauty of the Lord and
- Your walk with the Lord
