But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
Here’s a helpful exercise. The Bible defines faith as believing “that He is and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.”
Try this. Go through the Hebrews Hall of Faith plugging in “believing God is and that He rewards them that diligently seek Him” for each person who is said to have accomplished a thing by faith.
-By believing God is and that He rewards them that diligently seek Him, Abel offered a more excellent sacrifice
-By believing God is and that He rewards them that diligently seek Him, Enoch walked with God and was not
-By believing God is and that He rewards them that diligently seek Him, Noah prepared an ark
-By believing God is and that He rewards them that diligently seek Him, Abraham went out not knowing whither he went
And so on.
Faith has mysterious elements, that’s certain. However, when we simplify it down to these two fundamental concepts:
– Believing that God is
– Believing that God rewards those who diligently seek Him
and then acting upon them, each one of us can lead a life of heroic faith.
