Romans 8:10 (KJV) Victory Over Sin

Romans 8:10 (KJV)
And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.

Wait For It.

Romans 8:10 describes the reality every Christian experiences. We are saved. Christ is in us and “the Spirit of Him that raised up Jesus from the dead” dwells in us. But we still have this body, and this body is dead because of sin. We battle it daily.

·       The temptations

·       The fallings

·       The limitations

We battle not only the spiritual weaknesses we have, but also

·       The pain

·       The physical imperfections

·       The subtle[1] decline of health

We have eternal life, and we know it. But we face physical death and we know it.

But then Romans 8:11 describes the hope of every Christian. “he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies” We are promised that the death that belongs to this flesh will one day be resolved.

·       The human spirit was quickened, resurrected, made alive at the moment of our salvation.

·       The human soul was redeemed, purchased out of slavery to sin, and rescued from eternal hell at the moment of our salvation.

·       The mortal human body will be changed, made immortal and incorruptible at the moment of our appearing before Christ.

1 Corinthians 15:52-58 (KJV)

In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.

So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.

O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?

The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.

But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
