Titus 1:2 (KJV) God Cannot Lie

Titus 1:2 (KJV)

In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;

 

The verse is so simple, so plain, so profound, that it feels sacrilegious to attempt to expound upon it.

 

God cannot lie.

 

He cannot lie about anything. He is truth. He is only truth. What He says is true—all of the time, in every respect.

 

God cannot lie about eternal life.

There is life after death. Eternal heaven is a reality. I hesitate to say “unfortunately,” but I must say it realistically—eternal hell is a reality. No human soul ceases at the grave. Every person is aware, awake, alive—either in the blessed state of eternal heaven or the cursed state of eternal hell and the Lake of Fire.

 

God cannot lie about His promise.

“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”[1] God cannot and will not lie in this matter. 

·       Do you know you are a sinner? 

·       Do you believe the testimony of the Word of God concerning Jesus Christ—His deity, His death, burial, and resurrection? 

·       Will you place your hope for forgiveness and eternal life in Him?

 

Then do that! Call upon the name of the Lord. “For He hath made Him to be sin for us, who knew no sin, that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.”[2]
