Losing One's Life

Matthew 10:39 KJV
He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.

I liked this statement in Barnes Notes, "Whatever a man sacrifices to God is never lost, for he finds it again in God."[1]

I think the Lord has to draw us back to this statement again and again so that we always remember; nothing in this world is of value outside of Christ.

Again and again we, as His children, come to the place where we give up that which is worldly for the spiritual. Then again and again the Lord blesses us in this life, which in turn again and again, seems to tempt us to cling to the things of this life and the Lord again must bring us to the place where we only want Christ.

As many times as it takes, I want to only want the Lord.
