Amos 9:8 KJV
Behold, the eyes of the Lord GOD are upon the sinful kingdom, and I will destroy it from off the face of the earth; saving that I will not utterly destroy the house of Jacob, saith the LORD.
I was impressed this morning that no matter how harshly God says the judgment of God will be, there is always a line about mercy.
If two-thirds are destroyed, there is one third spared, and that a full one third.
If God destroys the sinful kingdom, yet He does not utterly destroy the house of Jacob.
Again and again, through the pages of the Bible, we find this. God will utterly wipe away Jericho, but Rahab and all who find their way into her home will be spared.
Praise God for such mercy and such hope that mercy elicits! We may come to the Lord and find mercy and grace to help in time of need.
