The Voice of One

Mark 1:3 KJV
The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.

There is no greater demonstration of the power of just one voice than that of John the Baptist. John rises out of obscurity and sinks back into destitution as he is imprisoned and then executed for his faith.
Yet John's one voice changed the climate of the world in his day and Jesus said there was no greater born among women.

John's voice was in the wilderness.
The wilderness of sin and of false doctrines concerning the Saviour exists today in absolute vastness. The wastelands of religious excesses stretch on as far as the eyes can see. There is plenty of room for a voice to rise up and call out prepare ye the way of the Lord.

John's voice was one cryingNot so much in sorrow, though there is a need for that too, but in earnestness. The need is too great, the expanses too large, the swelling numbers of the deceived, too many for casual interest. John knew he had to get the word out. So he cried it out.

John's ministry saw multitudes coming to be baptized.

May the Lord allow us to see multitudes as well.
