Nigh Is No Closer Than Far

Ephesians 2:17-18
And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.
For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.

Both those who are far from God (the Gentiles) and those that were nigh to God (the Jews) have been given the same access to salvation and the Father by the Holy Spirit and through the Lord Jesus Christ.

I was thinking today that far is no further than nigh and nigh is no closer than far when it comes to salvation. Lost is lost. The person who is religious is no closer to God than the person who is immersed in sin. The worst of sinners is no less capable of being immediately saved than the one who tries hard to please God but does so in his own power.

But through the Lord Jesus Christ, all have the very same access to the Lord and to salvation. No one is excluded. No one is so terrible that they could not be saved in a moment if, by the conviction of the Holy Ghost, they come to the cross of Jesus Christ.
