Revelation 1:5 KJV
And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood
The verse gives a threefold description of the Lord Jesus Christ
The Faithful witness
Jesus said, "He that hath seen me hath seen the Father." Hebrews says He is the express image of God the Father. Jesus' testimony toward God the Father is so faithful as to be flawless. He is in fact and truth God dwelling among men.
The first begotten of the dead
Though Jesus was not the first who rose from the dead, He is the first who rose by His own power and He is the promise of resurrection to all who believe in Him.
The prince of the kings of the earth
Jesus is the sovereign of this earth. The kings and princes of this world believe they are sovereigns and leaders in world affairs. Nothing could be farther from the truth. They are merely pieces on the board of God's plan for the ages. Jesus Christ is so far above them that nothing hinders His course and plan. All things, even those that appear to be for the advancement of evil, work in fact into the glory of God.
How glorious is the Lord!
