A Little Sanctuary

Ezekiel 11:16 KJV
Therefore say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Although I have cast them far off among the heathen, and although I have scattered them among the countries, yet will I be to them as a little sanctuary in the countries where they shall come.

I loved this phrase "a little sanctuary." In the midst of the trials and difficulties of life on this planet, God sets Himself up to be "a little sanctuary" for us.

In the household of a godly family
There is a little sanctuary. In this place we call home we have the love and support of people who love us and have embraced us and our God.
We come home to a praying people.
We come home to a believing people.

In our local churchThere is a little sanctuary. The church is an extended form of the same thing that is at home.
Here we find friends who believe as we do and encourage us in our walk with the Lord.
Here we find a family who will pray for us in our times of need

In our times of devotionThere is a little sanctuary. So
Even when we can't be at home and
Even when we are not in the church house
We may still have a little sanctuary with our God.

Not that our God is little. We will find one day when we enter into the portals of Glory that this sanctuary was all-encompassing and we will realize the huge help it was. This world, which seems so big and overwhelming, may appear to dwarf the Almighty. But just as a human hand may appear to block the sun because the hand is so near and the sun so far away, we know that all real life is in Christ and in the Father and this world, is truly the little one.
