2 Corinthians 9:9-10 KJV
(As it is written, He hath dispersed abroad; he hath given to the poor: his righteousness remaineth for ever.
Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;)
The context is obviously speaking about giving.
And the Bible says that the righteousness produced by their gift "remaineth forever." In other words, when we give, the product of the gift can never be lost. The benefit, the blessing and the record in heaven of that gift is eternal.
Let no man say that a gift given in the spirit of the Lord has been thrown away and wasted. God has seen it. And it will produce fruit that remains time on in eternity.
The fruit of the righteousness remains forever but the preacher does pray that it not only remains but that it increases in its fruit.
So I am praying today that people give bountifully, give liberally and that the righteousness of their gift not only remains forever but that it increases in its benefit for the glory of God.
