Lamentations 3:31-32 KJV
For the Lord will not cast off for ever:
But though he cause grief, yet will he have compassion according to the multitude of his mercies.
This is a shocking passage in our current "God is love" culture. Of course, God is love. But God is so much more! God is more than our minds are able to comprehend. God is love. God is intensely completely and eternally love.
That does not prevent Him from causing grief.
God is holy
God is just
God is wrathful and
God is angry with the wicked every day
I will not ignore this side of God. I will praise Him for the fullness of who He is for He is God in all He is and He is worthy of worship and of praise in all that He is.
Still, I am thankful this passage does not leave us here. "...though He cause grief, yet will He have compassion..." O Lord for that compassion today!
