Hosea 9:1 KJV
Rejoice not, O Israel, for joy, as other people: for thou hast gone a whoring from thy God, thou hast loved a reward upon every cornfloor.
God's people are not as other people. The people of the world; those who are unsaved, will sin and rejoice in their sin.
They will find pleasure in things that are completely wicked.
They will ignore the pangs of guilt until those pangs no longer exist. and
They will often not only find pleasure in such sin, but they will profit in it.
Not so the people of God. While we do rejoice and find joy in Jesus Christ,
We rejoice that our sins are forgiven
We rejoice that Jesus loves us
We rejoice in the blessed Word of God.
We can never rejoice in our sin.
It chastens us
It convicts us
It condemns us
And when we ignore those pricks of conscience rather than finding profit, we find our God refuses to allow us any pleasure or profit from it.
We have, and will always have, only one option; return to the Lord. (Hosea 6:1)
