Our Gospel

1 Thessalonians 1:5 KJV
For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.

Paul had ownership in the gospel he preached. He did not just say "the gospel" but "our gospel." This gospel belonged to him.
It was the gospel that had saved his soul
It was the gospel that had changed his life
It was the gospel that Christ had taught him
It was the gospel that he had preached to others
It was the gospel that others had embraced with him
It was the gospel that those who teamed with him proclaimed

This gospel was not only his gospel but
It was the gospel of those who were on his traveling team.
It was the gospel of those in the church at Thessalonica

And it was the gospel that had come in more than mere words, but "in power and in the Holy Ghost and in much assurance." May God make that true of the gospel I preach today.

And then Paul said to them "we were among you for your sake." May I never forget that I come among men and women for their sake. This is not about me. It is about winning others to Christ and about ministering to the children of God in the name of Jesus Christ.
