Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?
I have met some Christians over the years who believe that the doctrines of future things are not that important. Though they personally hold views that are contrary to the pre-tribulational rapture, they usually say things like, "Whether you are right about the rapture or I am right, it doesn't matter, we will both make it when it happens." One preacher friend of mine, when confronted with that statement, told the person, "That's a cop out. Decide what you believe and hold it."
But the doctrines of the future things, and especially concerning those things surrounding the rapture and the Tribulation, were of great urgency to the Apostle Paul. Though Paul was only in the city of Thessalonica a short time, yet in his stay he did tell those new Christians about the Tribulation, the rapture and the events that were involved in it.
Paul did not avoid these doctrines as controversial. Neither did he view them as insignificant and not necessary for young believers. It was among the first things he told them about.

Hope that, though this world is tough, we will escape the judgment that it faces.
