John 11:4 KJV
When Jesus heard that, he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.
First, sickness happens.
Even those closest to the Lord get sick and suffer. We grieve over loved ones. We have times of terrible anguish.
Secondly, the Lord is not oblivious to our suffering.
He knows what we endure. He weeps (Jesus wept). He comes alongside to comfort and hear us in our pain.
Thirdly no Christian suffers for naught but that the glory of the Lord should be seen.
Just as Lazarus arose so all who sleep in Christ shall rise again. It is not unto death, regardless of how long we lie in the grave. We shall live again.
Believing that is the greatest comfort in the world.
