James 2:1 KJV
My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons.
The faith in Christ can so easily be corrupted into something God never intended and thus cloud the glory of Christ.
Whenever we respect persons we appear to see more glory in them than in Christ.
• His glory is the only glory we should be able to see.
• His brilliance should so dim the glory of the wealthiest of men.
By respecting persons, by preferring one above another we betray the fact that we don't see the glory of Christ in them and imply to the world that there is no real glory in Christ. So the sin of respecting persons is greater than one might at first see. It is the sin of denigrating the glory that is Jesus Christ.
