Jeremiah 29:1 KJV
Now these are the words of the letter that Jeremiah the prophet sent from Jerusalem unto the residue of the elders which were carried away captives, and to the priests, and to the prophets, and to all the people whom Nebuchadnezzar had carried away captive from Jerusalem to Babylon;
Scofield says the final and complete captivity happened eleven years after this. That means the process of captivity was long and grueling. Can you imagine living under that kind of oppression for more than eleven years?
• For more than eleven years Jeremiah kept the same sort of message going.
• For more than eleven years he was harassed by both prophet priest and king for preaching a message of judgment.
To have remained faithful to God is a wonderful testimony.
