Someone, Somewhere

Jeremiah 5:1 KJV
Run ye to and fro through the streets of Jerusalem, and see now, and know, and seek in the broad places thereof, if ye can find a man, if there be any that executeth judgment, that seeketh the truth; and I will pardon it.

Having read the book of Jeremiah, I know that the outcome is not an excellent one. Jerusalem is to the place spiritually where they just cannot hear God. They have become so deafened to the truth and so blinded by their pride that they will seek the truth. They believe they already have it.

Still there is in Jeremiah this constant appeal to find someone who may be pardoned. Jeremiah himself is commissioned because God seeks a man seeking the truth, that He may pardoned him.

It is not difficult today to feel as if there is no hope
• No hope for America
• No hope for the world

And that may be the case. It is possible that we are so far down the road of blind sin that there is no return.

But that is no reason to believe there cannot be someone, somewhere, still seeking the truth. There is very possibly someone near each one of us ready to be pardoned, if we will only run through the streets looking for them.
