2 Corinthians 12:10 KJV
Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.
Scofield remarks that the Apostle's thorn is not revealed to us that "his consolations may avail for all to whom any thorn us given." Still he says his was a thorn in the flesh. But does that mean the only sort of thorn that benefits this consolation is in the flesh, a physical ailment? No. Verse ten lists other sorts of infirmities that Apostle thanked God for:
• Reproaches
• Necessities
• Persecutions
• Distresses for Christ's sake
In any of these weaknesses, the power and strength of God may be manifest in and through us.
And so in any of these I may thank God.
