Nehemiah
13:2 KJV
Because they met not the children of Israel with bread and with water,
but hired Balaam against them, that he should curse them: howbeit our God
turned the curse into a blessing.
One of those things that has
been my experience over and again is that I and those I pray for don't always
get the "blessings" for which we pray. Often we find ourselves
suffering under curses rather than those blessings for which we hoped.
- Hardships happen
- Difficulties arise
- Heart breaks are often the norm
rather than the exception
God does answer prayers and we
have reasons to rejoice again and again, but a fair percentage of the time, we
find ourselves weeping, and weeping with those who weep. It is the nature of
the battle we face in this world. Those troops in enemy territory have few
opportunities for "r and r" while behind enemy lines.
However, no matter how hard it
seems like things get for us, we have this assurance; our God turns curses into
blessings. We can't always see the blessings while we are in the middle of the
curse. It can be difficult and challenging. But God is in the works and God is
working the world's curses into our blessings.
I find great joy in that.
