Psalms
102:18 KJV
This shall be written for the generation to come: and the people
which shall be created shall praise the LORD.
I find three lessons from this verse:
A practical
application
God is forever willing to lift up and encourage the
downtrodden. Just as the Psalmist poured out his complaint and was comforted,
so every generation may trust the Lord on their behalf.
An anthropological
application
Each generation and in fact every individual is a new
creation. Something exists which never existed before. Here is a refutation of
reincarnation and of the idea that all of the souls that will ever exist
already exist and just inhabit a body at conception
A bibliological
application
The message of the Bible transcends generations. God has
so moved that what was written to the original reader is of equal value to a
reader millennia later.
