The Table of the Heart

Jeremiah 17:1 KJV

The sin of Judah is written with a pen of iron, and with the point of a diamond: it is graven upon the table of their heart, and upon the horns of your altars;

Jeremiah has three things to say about the heart:

Our sins are graven there

Vs 1

Our heart deceives us

Vs 9

Our God searches the heart

Vs 10

It is in the heart where our faith needs to find its home. A religion that affects the outer man without making a change to the inner has fallen short of saving faith. It is the heart,

• Our affections
• Our delights
• Our aims and
• Our purposes

that the gospel must reach.
