Genesis 47:7 KJV
And Joseph brought in Jacob his father, and set
him before Pharaoh: and Jacob blessed Pharaoh.
Genesis
47:10 KJV
And Jacob blessed Pharaoh, and went out from
before Pharaoh.
Hebrews 7:7 says that without contradiction, the less is blessed of the
better. It was understood that the one with the higher rank offered the
blessing to the one of lesser rank. In this case it was Jacob's age that gave
him rank.
So the question comes to my mind whether we ever have a right to offer
blessings to God. Rather, we are in desperate need of God's blessing. A popular
conservative personality known as Wild Bill for America recently changed the
conclusion of his Youtube broadcasts from "God bless America again"
to "America, bless God again." I generally enjoy his program but have
pause to wonder if he is not terribly mistaken with this change.
Whatever Americans are up to, we need His blessing. We need His
- Favor and
- Kindness and
- Grace
extended toward us. America
needs Gods blessing. God does not need ours.
