Strong Traditions

Exodus 13:19 KJV
And Moses took the bones of Joseph with him: for he had straitly sworn the children of Israel, saying, God will surely visit you; and ye shall carry up my bones away hence with you.

It is amazing how strong were the traditions of the Jews after these four hundred years of slavery.
  • They had no government
  • They had no organized priesthood
  • They had no national identity

Besides all of that, they had been severely oppressed for four hundred years. But when it came time to leave Egypt, they remembered the promise their forefathers had made to carry the bones of Joseph out of that place.

America is just over 200 years old the history of white settlers in our land barely extend to four hundred years. And yet with all of our heritage, with all of the pride we place in our country's history, still we have wandered away from our earliest traditions, arguing over what it means to be an American.

Truly the nation of Israel is a miraculous one. God has had His hand on those people since Abraham.

How has God has His hand in your life?
